Today we went to visit my uncle in his new flat by the sea. We drove down in the morning and had lunch with him, his new girlfriend and my grandparents, and then we all went for a walk on the beach.
There wasn’t a breath of wind, and it was almost warm enough to walk without a coat on. This was all the more incredible considering that England was in the grip of a storm at the beginning of the week, and thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes due to flooding, or been without electricity for several days. Tonight the storm is due to hit again, and the wind is already picking up.
But today was serene and beautiful – the calm between two storms.
